Food quality is of paramount
importance these days and everyone involved in the food
industry should be working to make sure that consumers
get the top quality food they are looking for - that's
the thinking behind the Retail Quality Award scheme run
by the Seafish Industry Authority. |

The Seafish Quality Award scheme was set up in 1987 to improve
standards and set guidelines within the industry. The scheme
would operate throughout the supply chain from processor to
retailer.
Ward's Fish gained this accolade in the inaugural year and
held it every year until the scheme finished in 1999, one
of only seven retailers in the U.K. to do so!
To qualify for the award, a fishmonger has to undergo a rigorous
inspection by Quality Assurance Officers from Seafish. This
inspection covers a comprehensive list of 175 points. Not
only is the standard of fish on sale examined, but all the
factors which affect the quality of fish on sale are tested.
Buying and delivery standards, refrigeration, display and
temperature control and staff skills are all elements which
must meet the exacting standards set by Seafish.
Therefore you can always shop at Ward's Fish with the confidence
that the quality of our products, premises, service and handling
practices are of the highest quality!
